Interesting question. I think you might be able to say "bi4mian3 shen1se4de shi2wu4" 避免深色的食物 - but I'm not sure if it translates correctly. Try it and explain what you mean by "dark colored" foods, they may have a special word for that.

As for a website with all these terms I'm afraid I don't know of any. Just make a list of all the words that are important to you and have a native Chinese person help you find the right words to use.

I am a senior citizen who studied Mandarin unsuccessfully at Berkeley during the sixties. I'll spare you the details. While the results were hysterical they were not productive. I am reading Henry Kissenger's book "On China" and realize that my Wade-Giles Romanization is 30 years out of date and I need to learn pinyin. I hope that my desire to learn pinyin on your blog site will encourage me to dabble in pronunciation. Thank you.

What do the Egyptian and Sumerian accounts say? How do we know they predate the Chinese? If the Genesis account is true then Egyptian, Sumerian and Chinese are all post Tower of Babel. The Chinese boast 5000 years of history which would predate not only the Tower of Babel but the flood too. Perhaps the invention of Chinese characters, Egyptian and Sumerian accounts are all around the same time?

Very interesting article which raises some very good theoretical points. I would disagree that it’s actually possible the Chinese were the first to create a basic written account of mankind’s earliest history as the Sumerian and and ancient Egyptian accounts obviously predate the Chinese as well as being in the actual place where civilization started (Africa). But yeah I think there's a connection.

No this proverb is more about loyalty to some other regime. It's usually used in politics but may be used in some other similar situations.

I could think of two people that this apply to:
* Guan Yu (whom worked for Cao Cao to repay his debt, and later return to Liu Bei),
* Liu Bei (whom reside temporary with Cao Cao; Liu Bei has always support Han dynasty),
* It could also be others who secretly support Han
