About

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I hope you find it useful in your Mandarin Chinese learning.

This blog is fairly new and after 5 years of learning Chinese I feel like I have hit a bit of a bottle neck.  So the purpose of this website is to help me break through this plateau and give a new aspect to my language learning in hopes that it will help me, and perhaps others in the process.

By adding content to this site, including useful vocab, grammar and especially idioms, I hope to increase my retention rate of the new things I learn.

I plan to add regular content in order to show how easy this language is despite what others have said.

I also want to record and host MP3s and maybe even create a course for beginners etc.

Please come back regularly to see how things develop.

I am a senior citizen who studied Mandarin unsuccessfully at Berkeley during the sixties. I’ll spare you the details. While the results were hysterical they were not productive. I am reading Henry Kissenger’s book “On China” and realize that my Wade-Giles Romanization is 30 years out of date and I need to learn pinyin. I hope that my desire to learn pinyin on your blog site will encourage me to dabble in pronunciation. Thank you.
